KELLE Technology Quality Starter Catalogue

Partners =>  Kelle

Our company was established in Budapest by Mr. Sándor Kelle, this is the Company’s 50th year.

We manufacture a wide variety of starter drives, primarily for cars and trucks (and also for motorcycles, jet-skis, tractors and tow-trucks).

We do all phases of work ourselves.

Our 1400 square-meter facility is located in an industrial park just outside of Budapest (Hungary).

We also operate a 1500 square-meter commercial center next door, as a separate company, offering the full range electrical parts for cars.

We supply our products to the local market in addition to exporting substantial quantities to neighboring countries as well.

We specialize in the rapid production of small and medium batches in good quality and at a good price.

Fast delivery! Two years warranty!

1950 Beginning of a carrier in “moonlighting” in the private industry
1953 Setting the wheels in motion for the foundation of a company, at best a drawn out process in socialist bureaucracy, after which:
1954 Sándor Kelle was authorized to work as a private entrepreneur in Budapest as an automobile electrician (starter and generator repair, cabling). This is viewed as the company’s official date of foundation.
1955 Relocating to a 50 square-meter facility in Nyár street, assembling the first lathe manually, acquisition and making of rudimentary instruments.
1962 Beginning of bendix repair operations, making special equipment, establishing contact with other private contractors.
1971; Beginning of bendix production for the so called "eastern" cars.
1981 First “socialist” export
1986 Budaörs facility - company is relocated to the Szarvasmező Industrial Zone. Beginning of complete technological independence.
1992 Starting to use cold-working processes for strain hardening (wobble press, then 400 ton press)
1993 First "western" export
1995 Gas cementation (hardening in a gas medium, annealing)
1997 Tool engineering for self (electroerosion metal working process)
1998 Production reaches 50,000 annually for the first time
1999 Introduction of CAD-CAM systems
2000 New CNC turning machines
2003 First exhibition abroad
2004 Introducing "blue bendix", appearance in autoMechanika in Frankfurt

Technology

The technology is based on cold cupping on a wobble press, starting out with annealed discs, pressing them to receive the semi-finished product for further working. The pieces are than processed for heat treatment in a gas medium in a modern program controlled environment, where the entire process is properly documented. Four years ago we have set out to gradually introduce the CNC technology in the parts manufacturing department and in tool engineering as well. This technology permits us to ensure precision in all phases of the manufacturing process, from production control through tool working, including metal and plastic pieces, executed in a well coordinated fashion featuring proper transparency in all stages of production. We have made technological improvements to gain independence form subcontractors. Following assembly, the components are subjected to final control, after which they receive a Kelle code and a manufacturing serial number affixed on the surface. Thanks to our investments in new technology and improvements in production control we are now able to manufacture batches of relatively small quantities, whose price and quality is highly competitive.

Quality

The various parts are checked under a certified ISO 9001 quality control system during production, all operations are recorded on technological accompanying sheets.

All parts and tools are designed by computer, using CAD-CAM.

The innovations and inventions are adopted for the manufacturing process with a view to improving the quality of our products to surpass the originals where possible.

Hardness factors, granular structure, spring fatigue limits and involute profile is checked at various phases of the manufacturing process.

Knowledge of new technologies and products is very important in the manufacturing industry, as well as accurate identification and recognition of potential situations for substitution. These are matters of organization, information technology and quality.

We use a program package entitled Pro Engineer to design and document bendixes. This is the cornerstone of precision manufacturing (e.g. CNC-supported working) and of the enforcement of quality requirements.

The accompanying documents of finished and semi-finished products contain an indication of where the person placed in charge may be located, also meaning the beginning of a new process-oriented quality control system.
