KOLBENSCHMIDT PIERBURG AG.

In its role as first-tier supplier, Pierburg has traditionally been one of the closest partners to the automotive industry, right from the start successfully advancing the development of the automobile.

Pierburg was founded in 1909 as a steel trader in Berlin; in 1928, Pierburg commenced with the production of carburetors and very soon graduated into sole supplier to all German automakers and many international motor vehicle producers and engine manufacturers.

In 1986, Pierburg was taken over by the Rheinmetall Group and in 1998 merged with Kolbenschmidt to form Kolbenschmidt Pierburg AG.

Within the Kolbenschmidt Pierburg Group, Pierburg is the specialist for emission control, air supply, throttle valves and solenoid valves.

Decades of experience combined with comprehensive, innovative and globally acknowledged capabilities in every aspect of the engine are factors that have driven Pierburg in its mission of repeatedly developing and manufacturing forward-looking components, modules, and systems.

Of gaining significance in the development of new engine generations are such factors as reduced fuel consumption, lower emissions, and enhanced performance, comfort, and safety.

For these purposes, Pierburg offers high-technology solutions: on-demand controlled electric coolant pumps, DC-motor driven exhaust gas recirculation systems, divert-air valves, as well as the many different versions of drive modules. Product Lines

	Especially diesel vehicles, but also more and more vehicles with petrol engines are being equipped with vacuum pumps from PIERBURG, which supply the necessary vacuum for supporting the brake system at the right time. Moreover, vacuum pumps are used in connection with the central locking system, air conditioning system, automatic transmission, emission control system and other control components.
	PIERBURG manufactures intake manifolds, intake manifold modules and intake manifolds with EGR made of plastic, aluminium or magnesium, which thereby are getting always lighter in weight. Perfected engineering solutions ensure optimum performance, comfort in driving and the right torque at low fuel consumption. Over 30 million throttle bodies have been installed in European vehicles. These many models prove the know-how PIERBURG has in the area of air management for injection and Diesel engines.
	PIERBURG Fuel Pumps excel through their highly developed technology, optimum pumping characteristics when hot, and their low noise level. These are indispensable components of the fuel system. PIERBURG offers the entire spectrum from the system pressure regulator, pulsation dampers, non return valves and purge valves to canister purge shut off valves which allow trouble-free and convenient operation.
	Proven world-wide by millions, emission control components from PIERBURG are used today in modern vehicles to keep the air and the environment clean. Through the exhaust gas return system and the secondary air system already up to 50% of the emissions in the exhaust gas are eliminated before they reach the catalyst. The most of these components are controlled by the On-Board Diagnosis (OBD)-system.
	New in the product range - the electric low-energy water pump from PIERBURG. An electronic regulator is integrated thus enabling progressive power adaptation as required. Water circulating pumps from PIERBURG improve the thermal load resistance of engines and fuel systems. These electronic water circulating pumps are very quiet and are also used in water controlled heating and auxiliary heating units, for example. They thus contribute towards good climatic conditions in the car.
	Electric Valves from PIERBURG are used for the circuit and control of suction tubes, secondary air systems, waste gas valves, air conditioning systems, cylinder disconnections as well as with the realization by comfort and safety s. The assortment covers electric switch-over valves (EUV), electro-pneumatic pressure transducer (EPW), canister purge valves (AKF), boost control valves (LDRV) as well as "Bypass" circulating air cut-off valves (UAV).
